As an Executive Advisor at MyNextSeason, Lauren Brand draws on her own personal and professional transitions to guide leaders as they contemplate their next seasons. With a focus on core values and discernment, she helps others make critical decisions and set a course for continued success. She is an active listener and engaged coach who builds strong relationships through genuine care and communication.
With more than 30 years of experience in the transportation industry, Lauren is an influential voice in maritime safety, policy, and regulation. She recently served as President of the National Association of Waterfront Employers and Executive Director for the National Maritime Safety Association. In these roles, she advised the US government on maritime and supply chain-related issues and guided each organization through the immense challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2019, Lauren retired from the Senior Executive Service in the US Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration. During her tenure, she led four national programs and ten field offices, including a $2B national port infrastructure modernization program. Previously, she served as Senior Director for Business Development at Port Canaveral.
Lauren has shared her industry expertise as a board member of several organizations including the Department of Transportation’s National Advisory Committee on Travel and Transportation Infrastructure, as well as the Department’s Innovation Council. She is also a former leader of the Maritime Transportation System National Advisory Committee.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Green Shipping Line and is a member of the Brevard Zoo’s Aquarium Project Campaign Cabinet. Lauren and her husband Malcolm live in Merritt Island, Florida. They enjoy traveling and visiting their grandchildren in Florida, Virginia, Australia, and New Zealand.
