Dr. John Whyte is a MyNextSeason Medical Concierge, helping clients who are in career transition set goals to live their healthiest lives. He is a board-certified internist who enjoys getting to know patients and building relationships based on trust and mutual respect. Dr. Whyte is particularly cognizant of the stress and upheaval that can accompany major life and career transitions and works proactively with patients to refocus on healthy habits that may have been neglected during decades of career intensity. He challenges patients to think holistically about their health and helps develop actionable steps toward optimal health both today and into the future.

In addition to working with patients one-on-one, Dr. Whyte is a popular writer and healthcare policy expert who has been communicating to the public about health issues for nearly two decades. As the Chief Medical Officer for WebMD, he leads efforts to develop and expand strategic partnerships that create meaningful change around important and timely public health issues. Dr. Whyte hosts a series on WebMD called “Coronavirus in Context” where he explores the ongoing impacts of the pandemic with experts including the US Surgeon General and Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Prior to joining WebMD, Dr. Whyte provided a focal point for advocacy as the Director of Professional Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement at the US Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Drugs Evaluation and Research. He also worked for nearly a decade as the Chief Medical Expert and Vice President, Health and Medical Education, at Discovery Channel, where he delivered award-winning educational programming.

Dr. Whyte completed an internal medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center and earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Policy and Management at Harvard University School of Public Health. He has written extensively in the medical and lay press, including two best-selling books, Is This Normal? The Essential Guide to Middle Age and Beyond and AARP New American Diet: Lose Weight, Live Longer.
