A veteran of major merger integrations and business unit turnarounds at ExxonMobil, he is adept at leading others to achieve breakthrough performance levels. His passion for education, entrepreneurship, and developing talent drives him to help clients build the dynamic teams and leadership qualities needed to deliver world-class business results.

At ExxonMobil, Alan dramatically grew sales, revenue, and profits as a Corporate Vice President and as President of the Fuels, Lubricants & Specialties Marketing Company. He led a $160B global portfolio and oversaw the seamless merger of two global operations while relocating the organization. Previously, he served as President of Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties, guiding a global cluster of businesses and brands to industry-leading sales and earnings, while refocusing on the Indian and Chinese markets. Alan began his career at Mobil Oil Company, serving 17 years until it merged to form ExxonMobil in 1999. He held leadership roles in London, Rotterdam, and Tokyo.

Alan is an Adjunct Professor of Practice at Wake Forest University School of Business and is a member of the university’s Board of Visitors. He is a lifetime member of the Worldwide Board of Junior Achievement, a member of the Washington Institute of Foreign Affairs, and a member and former Marketing Committee Head of the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.

Alan earned an Honors Degree from Bristol University in the UK, was a Graduate Trainee in Accounting and Economics with Reckitt & Colman, and pursued further studies at Columbia University Business School, Arizona State University Thunderbird School of Global Management, and the University of Michigan. A dual citizen in the US and UK, Alan and his wife Carol take pride in their family life with three adult children.
