After more than 20 years as an executive with Bank of America and 20 years as an executive coach and management consultant, Dick Downen now uses his extensive experience as an Advisor for MyNextSeason. With a deep personal understanding of the corporate world, executive consulting, and a successful transition of his own, Dick finds great reward in helping corporate leaders discern and confidently step into fulfilling next seasons.
While at Bank of America, Dick held many leadership roles, from directing large corporate subsidiaries as its President, to holding key positions in capital markets, risk management, and contingency planning. He led the merger and integration of over 30 subsidiaries and divisions.
Dick’s wealth of business experience has given him valuable insight into the issues facing today’s leaders. He has coached C-suite executives and senior managers of Fortune 500 companies, specializing in onboarding, execution and performance management, executive growth development, and retirement planning.
Dick has served a variety of philanthropic organizations, sitting on several not-for-profit boards and leading numerous committees. He served on the Advisory Board of the Hankamer School of Business at his alma mater, Baylor University, where he received a BBA and an MS in economics. Dick and his wife, Bonnie, were co-presidents of the Elon University Parents Council, where he also served as the Chairman of the Development Committee for the Board of Visitors.
He and Bonnie have three grown children and currently reside in Bluffton, SC, where Dick serves as Vice President of his community’s Board and President of the Golf Club Board.
