Widely recognized and respected as a transformational executive and distinguished leader in the financial services industry, Tom has served on the boards of directors of The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated, Royal Bank of Canada, New York Stock Exchange, and the New York Clearing House Association. Tom uniquely understands the needs and concerns of the C-suite leaders he advises and is a natural and enthusiastic mentor committed to the personal and professional growth of his clients.
Following a career spanning more than four decades, Tom retired in 2008 as the Executive Chairman of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, having overseen the global integration of the people, technology, and capabilities of both The Bank of New York and Mellon Financial, which merged successfully in 2007 under his leadership. Prior to the merger, Tom served as Chairman and CEO of The Bank of New York for more than a decade.
Tom is an alumnus of Rutgers University, where he has devoted much time and energy to furthering its mission as an Executive Advisor, member of the Board of Overseers, Board of Governors, and as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees. He additionally served as a First Lieutenant in Military Intelligence with the US Army in Vietnam. Tom is married with three children and eight grandchildren.
